I won a golden ticket to PME’s exclusive 70th birthday celebration in Birmingham, and oh my goodness. Here’s everything that happened behind the velvet rope. ๐โจ
When I entered the PME 70th Birthday Competition, my idea was a cake celebrating 70 years of PME magic, showing off all their incredible tools and decades of cake-decorating history. I pictured three tiers.
That idea won me a place as one of just four competition winners. Then I walked into the party on Friday night and there it was, standing in the middle of the room. The amazing ladies at PME had brought it to life and taken it all the way to seven tiers, one for every decade, finished down to the tiniest detail. I genuinely had to stop and take it in. Pinch-me doesn’t even cover it.
Every tier was a little time capsule, packed with sculpted details from its decade. Here are a few of my favourite spots, from the top down.
I was a little nervous walking in, but I needn’t have been. Every single person was so warm and welcoming. I got to chat with:
Seeing that sculpture in person was something else. The sparkle on the dress, the hair, the smile… it’s all cake.
Tinsel curtains, a live band, a caricature artist and a seven-tier cake. PME knows how to throw a birthday.
And the fun didn’t stop at the party. I got to wander the show floor too, saying hello to the brands I use in my own kitchen every week.

Less than six months into trading, I got to see my idea brought to life by the PME team as a seven-tier showstopper, in a room full of my baking heroes. Thank you, PME, for the most incredible night. I’m bringing every bit of that inspiration (and a lot of new sprinkle ideas) straight back to Crumb & Chaos.
